Switching the Bouncie device from one vehicle to another can be an easy task, but how you accomplish it can be different based on what you are hoping to achieve. Expand the sections below based on why you are moving Bouncie.

IMPORTANT: Each time the device is moved, you will need to make a 10-15 minute trip in the vehicle to re-establish the cellular connection.

Moving Bouncie to a New Vehicle

In this case, you no longer need the device installed in one vehicle, but want to switch the device to another vehicle. All you need to do is add the new vehicle to the app.

  1. Unplug the Bouncie device from the current vehicle.

  2. From the top right corner of the app, tap the vehicle icon. A list of your current vehicles will appear.

  3. Tap + to add a vehicle. Follow the process of adding the vehicle's VIN and the IMEI number from the Bouncie device.

  4. Plug the Bouncie device into the new vehicle. It may take a few driving trips before you see data in the app.

If you need to retain the vehicle's data, then do not delete it. If you no longer need the old vehicle's data, you can remove the vehicle from the app. To remove a vehicle, tap on the vehicle logo next to its name, then tap Delete in the top right corner.

Replacing an Old Bouncie Device with a New Bouncie Device

If you've gotten a new Bouncie device to replace your old one, follow these steps to switch them out.

  1. In the app, tap on the vehicle's logo next to the vehicle's name. The Vehicle Details page will open.

  2. Tap Edit in the top right corner of the Vehicle Details area.

  3. Tap on the IMEI number to enter the IMEI of the new device.

  4. Tap Save in the upper right.

  5. Unplug the old device from the vehicle's OBD2 port and plug in the new device. It may take a few driving trips before you see data in the app.

Additionally, you may want to cancel the subscription associated with the old device. In the app, tap the three lines in the upper left corner, and under the Device section, tap on Subscription. You'll be redirected to view your account in a browser. Under Devices, tap on Cancel Device next to the old device.

Using One Bouncie Device in Two Vehicles

While not recommended, it is possible to use one device in two different vehicles. If you need to track two vehicles, we recommend purchasing two devices. Only using one device means that one vehicle will not be tracked while the device is installed in the other vehicle.

To track two vehicles using one device, you would start by adding both vehicles to the app. You can then unplug Bouncie from one vehicle's OBD2 port, and plug into the other vehicle's port as needed. The device will only track the vehicle it is plugged into.

Tap the button below to learn how to add multiple vehicles to your account.
