When you receive a Battery Notification from Bouncie, the device lets you know that your battery voltage has dipped below the average voltage of 12.6 volts.

At 12 volts the app will show a Low Battery alert. If it gets below 11.5 volts, the app will show a Critical Battery alert, and Bouncie will shut down to protect the battery.

Bouncie measures the battery while the vehicle is parked. While the vehicle is being driven, the alternator is responsible for providing power, and Bouncie does not measure the battery voltage. While the vehicle is being driven, the alternator is responsible for providing DC power, which charges the vehicle's battery.

For the vehicle to start properly, the battery needs enough energy measured in AMPS. Occasionally, a battery's voltage will be fine but there is not enough power to start the vehicle.

What do I need to do?

The alert is designed to provide you with a warning to avoid possible issues with starting the vehicle. We would also recommend having the battery tested and replaced if needed.

Once the battery has been tested and is in a normal state, make 3-5 trips to charge the battery. The status will auto update.

When will the notification clear?

Once the battery is sufficiently charged, and the battery is properly holding the charge, the alert will normally clear once the device can report a healthy battery.

Why is my battery dead but Bouncie never told me?

If your battery dies suddenly, Bouncie may not have time to catch it to send you a notification. Bouncie will send you a vehicle battery alert if it's losing power or draining slowly, but events may happen so fast that the alert is not sent through the OBD2 port.

In order for the vehicle to start properly, the battery needs enough energy measured in AMPS. Occasionally, a battery's voltage will be fine but there is not enough power to start the vehicle.

My battery is fine but Bouncie is still showing a battery alert.
